Carrier pre-selection
Overview
Our carrier pre-selection (CPS) service allows you to automatically divert your outgoing voice calls to the telecommunications provider of your choice, resulting in vastly reduced voice traffic expenditure.
Traditionally, organisations whose telephone line is provided by BT have needed to dial a three or four-digit access code in order to route calls to their chosen low cost operator. This is known as 'indirect access'. Carrier pre-selection allows our clients direct access to the carrier of their choice without having to dial an access code.
How it works
Carrier pre-selection uses network access technology that ensures traffic originating from your organisation will be routed directly to your chosen network without the need for any prefix codes.
The process is extremely straightforward: You sign a services agreement with Evocal allowing your lines to be transferred to our billing system and then your telephone numbers are provisioned (i.e. allocated) against our carriers. The BT exchange is directly programmed to recognise your routing preferences from your Calling Line Identity (CLI) - your phone number - and routes your calls accordingly.
